Remember, Remember.

"The world is a comedy to those that think; a tragedy to those that feel."
-Horace Walpole

November makes me dream of coffee. I am not caffeine dependent, but there is something about the flavor of the sweet, nutty fall air that makes me crave a cup of joe. We love coffee though, do we not? It is a past time in our culture, a hobby, and sometimes substance. We love the smooth, warm liquid flowing through us. It is a comfort, but think of it before the brewing. Before that steaming cup of character--it's all grounds. The final product is bliss, but before it gets there it is a gritty, raw consistency. Consider the coffee process the same way you consider music.

Noah Gundersen and his brilliant family are the prodigies we have been hoping for. They are that perfect cup of coffee going down--yet gritty and real in between. It is stunning when the process of pain, reality, and beauty come together. Noah does not make you feel 'good', but he does make you feel. Sometimes you are shocked by the honesty he sneaks into a line. One minute you have a sour face from the sting of the truth, and the next you are soothed because no one ever cared enough to tell it to you before. The affects of tough love set in and suddenly the dark roast is not so bitter, but bold.

Maybe it is the fact that Noah sounds better live than recorded. Maybe it is the fact that all his siblings can harmonize effortlessly. Maybe it is the way your heart hits the floor every time the bridge mounts. Whatever the reason, it is reason enough to listen. So make a cup of coffee and go somewhere you have not before. Guaranteed this feeling is better than happy.

"As we gather round the table
To say a prayer for those we love
All the words that will spoken
they will never be enough
to encompass all the feelings
that our brittle hearts can bear
all the storms that rage inside us
fill our organs up with air"
Honest Song, Noah Gundersen
