June: Ray LaMontagne
“The stars are yours, if you have the head, the hands, and the heart for them.”--Ray Bradbury
Everyone likes sassy music. The
sweet kind that makes you feel easy and like summer will never end. This is the
music that is more than a message, an agenda, or anything else. It is just
beautiful for the sake of being so. Things like that are rare and change the
person who listens to them. They are rare because for once they do not try to
fix the problem, or change it—they just let you know it is not easy but that is
okay. Ray LaMontagne is such a poet. His music reminds us that life is the only
thing that moves, and moves us. It is a struggle and a grieving process
realizing how fragile we all are—but there is healing in knowing it. Here’s to
reality without the sugarcoating, and the taste is still sweet.
Ever wanted to say something
true, but no way to say it? Ever notice how false words are quickly said—but
the truth restores? Well that is why sweet baby Ray learned to sing, darling,
so that you could learn to smile even when the world is a weary place. You will
not smile because everything will be alright, you will smile because even when
it is not alright there is hope that it can be. Ray LaMontagne is not like the
others. Once you listen, you do not listen the same again—you do not want to.
"That’s when you need someone
Someone that you can call
And when all your faith is gone
Feels like you can't go on
Let it be me"
Let It Be Me, Ray LaMontagne
