We've finally come to terms

“That is what human beings do: we extract stories even from the stars.”
–Andy Crouch

In this dusty, tired world we often look for something to take the scales off our eyes. But how do we begin to see if our eyes are covered? We hunger for sight and even more something innocent and new. If we would only remember that sound is what sooths the soul. We come into the world inside the womb—and we cannot see. But my, can we hear. We know our mother’s voice before we see the light of day. We’ve heard melodies before the first time that we breathe on our own.  At our birth we hear the noises before we open our eyes. The world we first know belongs to sound. And that’s a beauty worth the resound.

To be outsiders, I’m pretty sure they’ve never been so “in”. The Outsiders album has three songs that cannot be escaped. “Girl named Tennessee”, “Stones Under Rushing Water” ,and “Garden”. Girl named Tennessee is a favorite because of the title obviously—and the ridiculously brilliant person who would earn the name “Tennessee”.

If you like breathing, smiling, and missing what was new—sing along. “Stones Under Rushing Water” features the angelic, Sara Watkins of Nicklecreek. We’ve all  had moments when we just had to ask why the good is gone. I’ve never heard it asked more sweetly.
“Garden”. If anything good and perfect could be said about a single melody this would be the one. This is the kind of song that makes you evaluate everything around you and when you do—you are overwhelmed. Overwhelmed that as something new you could see what you have never known before: Meaning. True, untainted, wild meaning. You won’t wake up a day with regret, once you have heard it.

"Won't you take this cup from me/ Cause fear has stolen all my sleep/
If tomorrow means my death/ Pray you'll save their souls with it/
Let the songs I sing bring joy to you/
Let the words I say confess my love/ Let the notes I choose be your favorite tune/
Father let my heart be after you." -"Garden"
