About

Hey. It's Maggie, here.

I started this blog in 2012. I was in college, and carless so all of my rides were with other people. A really sweet couple graciously offered their backseat to me and my friend on hour-long rides to church.

It was cramped, but we shared music on those two extra hours from here to there and back. In the process, I became fond of these people. One day my friend told me I should start writing a blog - citing my weird, but unique angle on music as a good topic. I brushed it off for a bit - then being hungry for an outlet and seeing the possibility of this becoming a reference in the future, I began.

Over the past near decade of this: I've had a few cases of writers' block, tried series and quit them, rambled on and on, discovered I only had one subscriber, and thought about giving it up a handful of times.

But this blog is a true, honest depiction of the ins and outs of being a creative. It's messy. Sometimes it's quitting an idea because I'm a perfectionist and it wasn't perfect, sometimes it's loving a song so much all my internal organs just ache and ooze with joy, or taking bits of time away to listen instead of talk, but most of all it's coming back, to this tired, inconsistent, but consistent trying and hammering out my thoughts anyhow.

This blog is my growing pains with my dear friend, music. Together we've been stretched. Please come along and enjoy the ride.

Thanks for reading.

"Music is well said to be the speech of angels; in fact, nothing among the utterances allowed to man is felt to be so divine. It brings us near to the infinite." - Thomas Carlyle
